I teach the exact same design process in My Own Edible Landscape that I use when creating custom designs for my clients. I hold your hand through designing your own edible landscape design.
For property owners, my top goal is to see you succeed with your edible landscape design.
For aspiring edible landscape designers, my goal is to provide you with a solid base in edible landscape design so that you can incorporate these skills into your business offerings.
À la carte enrollment gives you advanced-level access to the module(s) of your choice (see chart). Prices vary and reflect the amount of instruction per module. Enrollment includes a FREE 1-day trial.
Measuring Your Site
Depending on the size of your space, whether or not it’s easily visible online, and what’s already existing, this module could either be quick and easy or it may take you a little bit of time. Either way, I’ll show you how to measure your space with online tools and by hand. Your design will be based off of your measurements in Module 1.
Observing Your Site
Module 3 is geared toward observations, gathering site data, getting to know your site, and figuring out what you want in your space. You’ll do some worksheets and a couple fun activities to get yourself ready to start drawing. This super important step examines the bigger picture and helps you get clear on your garden goals and dreams.
Permaculture Design Basics
Module 4 dips a toe into permaculture design. We’ll explore how you can organize your space so it’s super functional (using several permaculture techniques) and talk about topics like water, soil contouring, food forests, and more. In this module, I recommend completing the first four videos. If you’d like to dive deeper, there are several additional videos to choose from.
Choosing Plants
Now that you have tree, shrub, and vine placeholders in your design, you’re ready to choose plants. I’ll give you a tour of my personal master plant list, then you’ll be ready to choose plants and create your own plant list. We’ll also talk about adding perennials and vegetables to your design, so you can create a master plan.
