The step-by-step online course for homeowners to create their own practical and enticing edible landscape designs

Imagine a garden with an abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs—all cultivated in a way that prioritizes function, beauty, and ecological health.

Make this your garden reality!

Are you ready to transform your outdoor space into a sustainable, edible oasis? This online course empowers you to create a beautiful, functional landscape that supports both your appetite and the environment.

Ornamental landscape design + permaculture design

The design you create will be...

CUSTOMIZED FOR YOUR UNIQUE SPACE

The first steps are to measure and observe your space then get clear on your garden goals and dreams.  Your design will be based on your unique space and wish-list.

SUPER FUNCTIONAL

With a functional design, you'll save tons of time maintaining your garden so that you have more time for fun and relaxation.

LOW MAINTENANCE

Designed well, a landscape with edible perennial plants can actually be low maintenance. (Consider this - how much time do you spend maintaining ornamental shrubs and trees? Not much, right? It’s about the same time commitment for edible shrubs and trees!)

COST EFFECTIVE

Design first to avoid costly and time consuming mistakes.  Plus, save money on your grocery bill as soon as you start getting a harvest.

VISUALLY PLEASING

An edible garden doesn't have to be straight rows of plants.  Instead, picture the most beautiful garden you've ever seen... and now plop that image in your yard but completely packed with edible plants.  Dreamy, huh?

COMPLETELY YOURS

The design process you learn through this course will empower you to create the edible landscape of your dreams.  You will have an absolutely unique garden that is productive, dynamic, organized, health-giving, head-turning, peaceful, and most of all completely yours - from the design you create on paper, to the reality of your beautiful new outdoor space.

What’s Inside the Course?

This self-paced online course guides you through creating your edible landscape design using 8 video-based modules, great bonuses, and tons of resources!

Measuring Your Site

Depending on the size of your space, whether or not it’s easily visible online, and what’s already existing, this module could either be quick and easy or it may take you a little bit of time.  Either way, I’ll show you how to measure your space with online tools and by hand.  Your design will be based off of your measurements in Module 1.

Creating Your Base Map

In this module, we turn all your measurements into a base map. You’ll add your property lines, house and any existing trees, shrubs, and structures.  The final step is to make a few copies of your base map.

Observing Your Site

Module 3 is geared toward observations, gathering site data, getting to know your site, and figuring out what you want in your space.  You’ll do some worksheets and a couple fun activities to get yourself ready to start drawing.  This super important step examines the bigger picture and helps you get clear on your garden goals and dreams.

Permaculture Design Basics

Module 4 dips a toe into permaculture design.  We’ll explore how you can organize your space so it’s super functional (using several permaculture techniques) and talk about topics like water, soil contouring, food forests, and more.  In this module, I recommend completing the first four videos.  If you’d like to dive deeper, there are several additional videos to choose from.

Bubble Diagrams

Put some of your ideas onto paper (finally)!  We begin with a few design lessons and one fun activity.  You’ll then define your open spaces using the “bubble diagram” technique and end by turning those bubbles into bed lines and defining your main pathways.

Concept Design

Module 6 takes your design one step further by adding existing trees plus placeholders for new trees, shrubs, vines, and secondary paths.  I’ll also share some professional design secrets with you!!!

Choosing Plants

Now that you have tree, shrub, and vine placeholders in your design, you’re ready to choose plants.  I’ll give you a tour of my personal master plant list, then you’ll be ready to choose plants and create your own plant list.  We’ll also talk about adding perennials and vegetables to your design, so you can create a master plan.

Drawing Like a Designer

Module 8 will show you how to transform your pencil drawing into a professionally designed masterpiece.  Once you’re finished with this module, you’ll have a gorgeous design that doubles as a piece of art.  Print it, frame, it and hang it on your wall!
